Interior Lights, Plate Lights and DetailingJune 18, 2026
Key Work Completed
- Cleaning and dressing of the tire sidewalls
- Replacement of the roof interior lighting
- Replacement of the license plate lighting
- Cleaning of the interior and exterior glass
- Rear badge cleanup
Interior Lighting System
After confirming the bulb types earlier, I started installing the new lighting parts.
Work done:
- The roof interior light was replaced.
- The license plate lights were replaced.
During installation, I saw that the rear reading lights used a different bulb type than I had identified earlier. I postponed those lights until I get the correct bulbs.
I tested the completed lighting systems and did not find any fault.
Tire Cleaning and Care
After the wheel cleaning, I moved on to the dirt built up on the tire sidewalls.
During the job:
- I cleaned the surface with ValetPRO Classic APC.
- I scrubbed the tire sidewalls in detail with a brush.
- After cleaning, I applied Selsil Tire Shine.
The sidewalls ended up looking cleaner and more even.
Glass Cleaning
I cleaned the interior and exterior glass surfaces with glass cleaner.
Areas cleaned:
- Windshield, inside and outside
- Side windows
- Rear window
I removed the dirt film and marks that were reducing visibility. The windshield especially became noticeably clearer after the thin film layer was cleaned away.
Rear Badges
I removed the 1.6 engine displacement badge from the tailgate.
The adhesive had reached the end of its life, so the badge came off without force. Only a small amount of residue remained.
I ordered an adhesive remover to clean the remaining residue.
After checking the look, I decided not to reinstall the 1.6 badge. I also plan to refresh the Golf badge later.
Conclusion
By the end of the fifth day, part of the interior lighting system was replaced, the glass surfaces were cleaned, the tire sidewalls were cleaned and dressed, and the 1.6 badge was removed from the tailgate.
These jobs made the vehicle look cleaner and more complete, marking another completed stage of the Golf IV BFQ OEM+ cosmetic restoration.
